Pigmentation means coloring. Your skin gets its color from a pigment called melanin. Special cells, deep in the skin make melanin. When these cells become damaged or unhealthy it affects melanin production, resulting in either darkening or lightening of the skin. Some pigmentation disorders affect just patches of skin, while others affect your entire body.
A common example of hyperpigmentation is “sun spots”. Over time, sun exposure causes damage to the melanin producing cells, causing over production of melanin, leading to the undesired dark patches (or sun spots) on your skin.

Following the recommended pre and post care instructions, for in office procedures, is critical. For example, if we are treating you for hyperpigmentation daily use of sunscreen is required to prevent further damage of the the melanin producing cells, and reappearance of the undesired dark spots. Following the recommended home care instructions will decrease healing time from in office procedures, amplify results from in office procedures, and maintain results longer.
